Feux d'artifices pour Noël - Éditorial du 14 Décembre 2025

Fireworks for Christmas - Newsletter from December 14, 2025

Christmas is the grand finale of our year: both its climax and its conclusion. Its climax, because it is the most intense period in terms of sales. Just under a third of our annual revenue is made between November 1st and December 24th. Of course, this third has always been closely correlated with the year as a whole, benefiting from its momentum or suffering from its inertia.

But there is nevertheless a very real challenge in getting Christmas logistics right, in terms of both stock and teams. Nothing is more false than the saying “logistics will follow,” wrongly attributed to General de Gaulle (who always denied having said it). Logistics—or execution, as it’s called in entrepreneurial circles—is fundamental and can turn gold into lead, like a tipsy Midas.

Christmas also marks the end of 2025, the 16th year of Mes Chaussettes Rouges: the 16th profitable year and the 15th year of growth (thank you, Covid!). Our growth is often around 15%—a far cry from the staggering growth rates of tech companies. But at that pace, when we, the founders, celebrate our 100th birthdays, we will have surpassed the size of Hermès today. Small fish will grow big, provided God grants it life. And let us hope that, unlike La Fontaine’s carp, no one fries us before then. Let’s keep our feet on the ground, because over the long term such growth is a real tall order—but on this Christmas Eve, let us allow ourselves to look up at the stars.

Jokes aside, those are the good news from 2025. Of course, not everything was perfect, and there are many areas for improvement. But after Christmas, we’ll start with ski slopes, before moving on—skis off—to our improvement tracks for 2026.

And if you’re wondering whether socks make a good Christmas gift, don’t ask us. As the saying goes, “Never ask a barber if you need a haircut.”

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026,

Jacques and Vincent

PS: In 2025 once again, we kept our promise to limit our mailings to just seven per year.

Gammarelli, the Popes’ sockmaker!

Whether you’re celebrating Christmas in Rome, in Avignon, or with a fine bottle of Châteauneuf, giving Gammarelli socks is always a gift steeped in a rich and powerful history. As one of our customers once told us: “If it’s good enough for the Pope, it’s good enough for me.”

Whether you’re a mulled wine lover at the top of the ski lift or a seasoned freerider, every skier needs a good pair of socks. Here’s a collection that’s warm thanks to merino wool—as soft as freshly fallen snow—with designs inspired by the mountains.

These socks feature reinforced shins, because we know you’re all excellent skiers—with your weight positioned well forward in the boot for better edge grip, most of your body weight on the outside ski, and your shoulders facing the slope as you extend your legs to shift your weight. But you’ve been doing all that for a long time now.

Le modèle norvégien et les bonnets accompagneront agréablement les promenades enneigées.

Women are always the future of humanity

This banner was already included in our last email. But it’s still very relevant. Did you know that 50% of people who celebrate Christmas are women? If you’ve already got another gift, these socks will be a great addition. If you haven’t thought of anything yet, now you have an idea. And a good one at that.

De la tête aux pieds

As you know, our purpose is to offer you socks—but we can almost dress you from head to toe.
