Dear friends, dear customers,

You know it as well as we do: even the sturdiest socks eventually need replacing. To us, our products are far too precious to be considered mere consumables, yet our business does rely on repeat purchases—less frequent than buying a baguette, more frequent than buying a tombstone.

Most of you have therefore placed several orders with us, and for some of you, several dozen.

If we think in probabilistic terms, each order is an event that carries a certain risk: there may be a delivery issue (a 3% delay), a packing error (1%), or a product defect (0.2%).

So a customer who orders regularly will eventually have every (mis)chance of encountering a disappointment one day. When that happens, the temptation may be strong to think: “Mes Chaussettes Rouges just isn’t what it used to be.”

Please resist that temptation, for the only culprit would be a mathematical principle known as the geometric distribution. Our shipping speed remains consistent, our products are ever more carefully inspected and improved. And if our brand Mes Chaussettes Rouges isn’t what it used to be, it is simply because it is slightly better.

The real purpose of this editorial is to say the following: when you eventually encounter a complication, please tell us. There is no problem that cannot be solved between people of good will. As Chesterton once said, “An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered.” So turn your troublesome orders into an adventure by reaching out to us.

The most serene Mr. G., who currently leads the field with 113 orders to his name, knows this well: in the end, everything always turns out fine.

Have a lovely Sunday,

Jacques & Vincent

Spring in Sight

Spring is now within reach: the yellow of forsythias and the red of geraniums have already begun to brighten our gardens. Wear bright colours in response to nature waking up! Our 100% Lisle cotton socks can once again take their place for those who appreciate their lightness.

The Stars of the Transitional Season

Wool will soon become too warm, while Lisle cotton may still be a little risky before the last spring frosts have passed.

Those of you who are fond of our super-durable socks will therefore appreciate the new designs. This navy and green pair, for instance, combines the classic elegance of navy blue with a subtle nod to the fresh green of the spring that lies ahead.

A Little Late to the Party

The timelines for developing and producing new models are always somewhat capricious. They often lead to deliveries arriving slightly out of step with the season they were intended for.

This new cashmere and wool model is therefore for those who still feel the cold well into May—or for the more forward-thinking among you who already know that the chill will return. With their carefully considered composition (57% wool – 24% cashmere – 17% polyamide – 2% elastane), these pairs are both soft and durable.

Must-Have Accessories

As you know, our raison d’être is to offer you socks, but we can almost dress you from head to toe.
