# Mid-calf Socks
Mid-calf socks are among the shortest socks offered at Mes Chaussettes Rouges (just before the invisible socks, of course!). As their name suggests, these are mid-high socks that reach the middle or just below the calf.
Why choose this height?
- For their fit: the elastic holds perfectly when positioned on the thinnest part of the leg, which is why socks are designed to be either below or well above the calf (like the mid-low socks that sit below the knee).
- For their style: this height is also ideal if you usually wear slim pants. Indeed, there can be fabric friction between your pants and socks if the socks are too high and your pants are tight. With mid-calf socks, not only do they avoid friction, but they also stay securely on your leg!
- For their feel: mid-calf socks guarantee a feeling of lightness. They hold and protect your feet discreetly and delicately!
Another advantage of mid-calf socks? Since they are shorter, they cover less of the leg and are therefore better suited for summer to keep your feet cool despite high temperatures.
# Mid-calf Sock Ranges
Although we originally specialize in mid-low socks, we offer a very large number of mid-calf sock models for all seasons, tastes, and sizes!
All-season Mid-calf Socks
Mid-calf socks in Scottish yarn: we offer two ranges in Scottish yarn
- 100% Scottish yarn: knitted entirely from high-quality Egyptian cotton, these mid-calf socks are the finest and lightest. They feature fine, refined ribs and come in solid colors or with patterns (houndstooth, caviar, chevrons). Their advantage? They are reinforced at the toe and heel for extra durability and re-knitted stitch by stitch to ensure the comfort of a seamless toe.
- Super-strong Scottish yarn: “the new chic is to last”! The slogan of this range says it all. The Scottish yarn, which makes up 72% of the sock, is reinforced with polyamide (durability – the material used for boat mooring ropes) and elastane (flexibility and perfect hold on the leg).
Mid-calf cotton socks:
- Supersoft cotton socks: their name comes from their extreme softness. The cotton used to knit these mid-calf socks is unmercerized, untreated cotton to guarantee extreme softness (without being too warm). Their advantage? The absence of ribs makes them even softer!
- Non-compressing socks: this organic cotton range stands out not only for the softness of its cotton but also for its comfort. They are called “non-compressing” because the elastic is distributed along the entire length to avoid tightness in just one spot and to guarantee maximum comfort and hold.
Winter Mid-calf Socks
Mid-high wool socks:
- Fine merino wool: Bresciani sock models are made of fine wool, generally 80% wool, and stand out for their softness, fineness, and original patterns that add a perfectly chic touch of cheerfulness to your winter outfits.
- Thick wool: in Super-strong or Bison, these wool socks are appreciated for their very comfortable medium thickness, unmatched durability against wear, and softness. They are obviously very warm thanks to wool’s insulating properties.
Mid-calf height cashmere socks: Cashmere is among the softest and most silky wools available. Mid-calf cashmere sock models come either very thick with 85% cashmere, medium thickness in cashmere & wool (very robust and fluffy with their smooth appearance), or finer in cashmere & silk (the warmest, softest, and finest for winter!).
