# Why wear women's winter socks?

When temperatures drop, it is often the extremities of our body that suffer the most and through which body heat escapes. It is therefore important, once autumn and winter are here, to dress warmly and especially to wear the right women's winter socks.

What do we mean by women's winter socks? Women's winter socks are pairs of socks made from insulating and therefore warm materials. Along with the warmth and insulation of these materials often come softness and thickness (but not necessarily). Among the warmest materials for winter are wool socks, then cashmere, and finally blends of warm materials.

Women's winter sock models are distinguished by their composition but also by their patterns. There are knitting techniques for socks that set them apart from others: this is the case for natté wool knitted socks or those with Norwegian patterns achieved through alternating colored yarn knitting.

# Women's winter sock ranges

Mes Chaussettes Rouges offers a wide range of women's winter socks to meet different needs in terms of thermal insulation, materials, thickness, style, etc. Here is our selection:

Wool: the women's winter socks in merino wool are characterized by their insulating, thermoregulating, and antibacterial properties. Merino wool socks are relatively thin but warm thanks to the wool they are made of, which has insulating capabilities that allow feet to breathe while retaining body heat to protect them from the cold. The advantage of women's winter socks in merino wool? They have antibacterial properties: indeed, merino wool lets escape the particles responsible for bad odors thanks to its airy fibers.

Natté wool: the Daphné sock brand specialized for women has launched a range of women's winter socks in 90% natté wool that are relatively thick, very fluffy, soft, and warm. They are ideal to wear with boots and ankle boots in the city or in the mountains. Their little extra? The variety of colors offered by this range: from the most basic (black, navy blue, gray) to the more colorful (green, burgundy, purple, denim blue, beige).

Cashmere: Cashmere is one of the most precious wools available, due to its rarity and the quality of its fibers. Women's winter socks in cashmere are among the warmest, softest, and thickest socks available (such as Mazarin’s 85% cashmere socks). Cashmere socks also stand out for their thickness, making them extremely comfortable and fluffy!

Wool & cashmere: Women's winter socks made of wool & cashmere are distinguished by their smooth appearance, which enhances the softness of these particularly warm socks. The blend of wool and cashmere makes these sock models some of the warmest, softest, and most durable. Indeed, beyond the very vivid color variations (pink berry, intense purple, yellow), the women's winter sock models are particularly robust thanks to the polyamide reinforcement that gives them their special resistance to wear.

Cashmere & silk: The blend of very soft and warm cashmere with silk, which is thermoregulating and shiny, gives women's winter socks their soft, warm, silky, fluffy... and fine appearance! This model is unbeatable in terms of fineness, warmth, and softness. Wear them with city shoes or in the mountains, you won’t want to take them off!

Silk: The women's winter socks in silk are characterized by their fineness and silky touch. Indeed, silk has thermoregulating properties that keep your feet warm in winter by retaining the body heat released from your feet. You will appreciate the particularly shiny look and feel of silk, which adds even more brightness to silk socks and makes them very light and pleasant to wear.

# Caring for women's winter sock models

Women's winter sock models are generally made from delicate materials. Each model therefore needs to be washed carefully. Here are our care tips to preserve the quality of each women's winter sock:

  • Washing: wash your women's winter sock models in the machine, regardless of the composition (wool, cashmere, silk, or blend), on wool or hand wash cycle (the most delicate possible). Ideally, wash them cold with a very gentle spin to avoid deforming or felting them (maximum 600 rpm);
  • Drying: air dry your socks. Natural drying will help them keep their original shape and allow the fibers of the materials to maintain their natural thickness. Tumble drying is prohibited!

Note: the most careful can hand wash their socks, which is even better (but not mandatory)!
