What are the types of striped socks?

There is no pattern more classic, elegant, and timeless than stripes. This pattern allows for subtle variation in sock colors and introduces an additional color to your outfit. Striped socks come in several sub-patterns:

Vanized socks: these socks are characterized by vertical stripes present in the ribbed sections of the socks. This type of pattern is probably the most popular among fans of classic socks, due to its elegance and finesse. The unique feature of vanized socks is their reversibility. Indeed, if you turn these socks inside out, the colors swap!
"Deck chair" striped socks: this vertical stripe pattern knitted in jacquard is more "rigid" than vanized socks. The stripes are uniform and more pronounced, making them considered more casual.
Horizontal stripes: horizontally striped socks are generally more relaxed. These wider stripes are quite visible and can be bicolor or multicolor, as seen with brands like Gallo and Mazarin.

How to wear striped socks?

Striped socks are first chosen based on the desired outfit.

If you opt for a formal outfit, it is preferable to choose a pair of vanized striped socks. These finer and more elegant stripes add contrast to your outfit with more or less discretion. The base color is generally chosen to match the color of the pants or shoes to create continuity.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for more original socks but still suitable for dressed-up outfits, then vertical "deck chair" stripes are perfectly appropriate!

Horizontal stripes are appreciated with jeans, chinos, or any other casual pants.
